Inspired By You: Felt Wrapped Wreath

Last week Janee of Yellow Bird, Yellow Beard posted a tutorial for a paper wrapped wreath.

My favorite seven year old loves crafts, so when we get to hang out I am always in the lookout for something fun and crafty.

Using Janee’s beautiful work as inspiration, 7yrold and I made this cute felt-wrapped wreath.

First we cut red glitter felt and green felt into long strips. We covered a section of our styrofoam ring in homemade decoupage glue. (Just mix equal parts school glue and water to form a paintable paste.)

We wrapped the strips carefully around the wreath form. After the wreath was fully wrapped we trimmed off the excess felt and secured it with a dab of hot glue.

7yrold had a grand time decorating the felt wrapped wreath with snowman stickers from the craft store.

Self-LOVE: the holiday edition

image

As we all know by now, I’m spending my days hanging out with Santa Claus and taking pictures of kiddos. I’m certainly finding this job worthwhile. I’m driven and motivated while here. I’m passionate about providing a simple, but treasured, holiday moment for families.

This job has helped renew my spirit and find a passion I can take with me post-holiday season. All of this positive career energy has me thinking about this rest of my life. How am I treating myself? Do I love myself as much as I love others?

The truthful answer is no…and I haven’t for some time. So this year, I am wrapping up a pile of self-love. I’m going to give myself: mind, spirit and body the love I deserve.

Today, I am taking a simple step. I’m going to be aware

Holiday Traditions

image

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is that families can easily create there own traditions. I am finding that as I grow older and create my own family with my wife and Ziggy-kitty, I get so much joy learning about how other families celebrate their holidays.
As we approach Christmas, I am floating on a cloud of red-green-glitter induced joy. That could be because I spend my days hanging out with Santa. This time of year brings out the little kid in me.

Of course I can’t keep my holiday sparkle to myself. So, I invite you to share with me a bit about how you celebrate.

One of my most treasured Christmas traditions involves tree trimming. For as long as I can remember my mom has, left a beautifully wrapped package for us to open on Christmas Eve. They always contained a new holiday ornament.

When I moved out and got my own house, my mom packed up my ornaments and sent them to me. I was able to deck my halls with ornaments that held so  many holiday memories.

It’s a tradition that Anne and I have continued in the four Christmases we have shared. It’s one I plan to continue with any future children.

Whats your favorite family tradition? Please share.

Xoxo,
Erin

Breathing Deep…

I get to spend my days with Santa. Even during the slow moments…like now…this job of pretty, darn awesome. Even on the days when Santa is sleepy, I absolutely love this job.

It has its moments. Nothing is perfect, but right now…I am grateful. I wish I had more time to devote to Beeweave and this little blog. I will…with time.

I also know that I will find a post-holiday job I love, that also allows me to grow Beeweave.

With Thanksgiving just a few short days away, gratitude is a hot blog topic this week. As I continue to grow in this life, I am beginning to see just how much I value gratitude. I am grateful for so much.

Even when the holidays wind down and its no longer at the forefront of everyone’s minds I want to practice being grateful.

I plan to incorporate more lists of simple gratitude around these parts.

As always, stay tuned…there are some big things on the horizon.

Wednesday Wish List: Snow White

It is no secret that I am completely inspired by fairy tales, and I pretty much have been my entire life. The new show, Once Upon A Time only adds fuel to that fire. While loosing myself in a fairy tale world each week brings me joy, it has also helped inspire me in my crafting, blogging, business-running world. From now until Christmas, I will be transforming our regular Wednesday Wish Lists in to inspirational, holiday shopping guides. Of course, each week, we will feature a new treasury, inspired by a new fairy tale character.

Snow White has always been a favorite of mine.  Just ask me how much I love that Ginnifer Goodwin plays her character on Once Upon A Time.  She’s beautiful and absolutely shines in the role.

Love DROP: Marci

I am a girl who believes in the power of small changes and paying it forward. I used to participate in blogging for one my favorite organizations, Love Drop, on a semi-regular basis. Then, I sort of fell off the blogging bandwagon all together. But I am back, and definitely going to craft Beeweave into something that reflects all aspects of my life.

I believe we can all make a difference, one person at a time.

Love Drop focuses on bringing joy to the life of someone who is struggling by picking a new person each and every month. This month they have decided to focus on Marci. Just listen to her story…

Love Drop is at it again! They just came back from the Indianapolis area where they dropped $2,500 worth of baby gifts on newborn triplets (they’re so cute!!), and THIS month they’re trying to round up the love for another mother who needs our help — this time fighting against cancer for the 3rd time in 10 years.

Any of us in the same situation would probably use any extra money toward medical bills, so that’s why this month we want to instead focus on giving Marci and family the gift of quality time together. Let’s send them somewhere amazing and help them form memories that will last forever! We’re looking for creative ideas this month… financial gifts too, but also anything that will help them escape together for a while.
Want to help Marci and her family from Fort Collins, Colorado out? Here are 3 ways:

Give $1.00 – This money will help us give her some great quality time!
Give a gift card – Gift cards are extremely helpful, especially to places that are national.
Donate TRAVEL stuff – Airline miles, timeshare options, destination packages, etc. – whatever you have access to!

Thanks guys! You can reach the Love Drop team here anytime with questions: team (at) love drop (dot) us., or by checking them out at LoveDrop.us. Thanks everyone! We’ll let you know how it goes!

If you are not in the position to give, that’s okay! Help Marci out by spreading the word. Blog, Facebook, Tweet, send up smoke signals. It is all appreciated!

Deck the Spooky Halls

Yesterday’s snow put me in the mood to start thinking about Christmas, but today I’m back in the Halloween spirit. It’s my goal over the next few years to build an array of creative, beautiful decorations for all of the major holidays. I think holiday decorating helps everything feel fresh and new. Now…if only these items would magically make their way in to my closet.
